Christmas in July at Sobie Meats featuring a book signing with Ray Bentley

On Saturday, July 16th, Sobie Meats in Walker, MI at 3450 Remembrance Road will present Christmas in July. The event will benefit the Ottawa North Kent Blue Star Mothers. The Blue Star Mothers are raising money for Wreaths across America, which places wreaths on veteran grave sites at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans cemetery. The goal this year is 5,200 wreaths, which will make the cemetery the 2nd most decorated one in the US behind Arlington National Cemetery.

Former NFL Linebacker and current ESPN College Football Analyst Ray Bentley will be at the event from 12-3pm signing autographs and selling copies of his novel Driftwood. His children’s books, as well as various sports memorabilia, will be available for purchase. Autographs are free. A portion of all sales will go to Blue Star Mothers.

Christmas in July will also feature a Blood Drive from 10am to 3pm, Barbeque starting at 11am from Squirrel’s II BBQ, The Score, Daddy Pete’s, and Hulin U, A Hot Dog Eating Contest at 1:30pm, and much more, including a live auction and polka band. About Blue Star Mothers

Michigan Blue Star Mothers Chapter 194 is a chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America. We are mothers of children currently serving in the United States military, and of children who are veterans. We support each other and our children while promoting patriotism.

Our mission includes service to our active duty military by sending care packages to troops deployed overseas, to the needs of our veterans and our community. We are ready, willing and able to assist Gold Star families with any need they have so their hero's memories are forever honored in our community and in our hearts.
