Horizon Books to Host Ray Bentley this week
This week, Grand Rapids native Ray Bentley, a former two-time Super Bowl linebacker with Buffalo, will be coming to Horizon Books in Traverse City to sign copies of his new fiction novel, Driftwood, from 4 PM to 6 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Then he will be at Horizon Books in Cadillac on Friday, February 12 from 2 PM to 5PM.
Bentley is excited to visit with Northern Michigan football fans. “Everybody knows this area loves their football and I can’t wait to talk with the area fans, as well as those who just like a good book,” Bentley said.
Bentley was born and raised in the Grand Rapids area and later went on to set records on the
football field at Central Michigan University, becoming the first defensive player to ever win the
Mid-American Conference MVP in 1983. After leaving CMU, Bentley played 10 years of
professional football, including with the 1983 USFL Champion Michigan Panthers where he was
a two-time All-Pro and two Super Bowl appearances with the Buffalo Bills during their historic
run. Bentley went into broadcasting following his career and just wrapped up his 12th season
calling college football games for ESPN/ABC. He has also spent 10 years as a local radio show
host in Grand Rapids.
