Ray Bentley to Speak at Davenport University

On Tuesday, October 6th, 2015, Ray Bentley will be giving a presentation titled “Becoming a Champion: Lessons of Life from Football” on the campus of Davenport University in the Lettinga Auditorium. The event will start with a meet and greet from 11:30 to noon with Davenport Faculty and Alumni with a receiving line where Bentley will autograph copies of his new novel, Driftwood, and visit with the guests. Then starting at Noon, Ray will give his presentation followed by a Q & A session. Also, afterwards copies of Driftwood will be available for sale and Ray will be available to autograph them.

Ray will talk about growing up playing football, and all the highs and lows along the way. He will also discuss how what he learned on the gridiron continues to help him in life after football, and how all kids should partake in some form or organized sport or activity to help teach them valuable lessons about teamwork and a formula for success, regardless of the endeavor.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.

About Ray Bentley

Ray is a former NFL linebacker, having played ten years professionally, including three in the USFL. He has worked in both the TV and Radio industries since his retirement from professional football in 1993. Currently he is in his 12th year as an ESPN College Football Analyst. Ray has authored and published seven children’s books. He lives in New Hampshire with his wife, Jodi, and family.

Driftwood, his first novel, is about a 17-year veteran linebacker of the North American Football Association (NAFA), Jack Driftwood. Driftwood and the Buffalo Blizzard have been at the bottom of the league since his rookie year, where they played and lost in Mega Bowl 33. Things are looking up this year, though, as GM Donald Fegel has built a championship contender. Though he and Driftwood don’t always see eye to eye, they both want one thing: A Mega Bowl victory for the city of Buffalo.
